Day 21 at Farnell Day 3 of Last Year in School JP Morgan Chase Challenge-- OFFICIAL... volunteer x)
It is seriously not fun juggling school and work together. Although it may be a few hours for each, it is really exhausting I must say. It is only for the steel mind and body.
Energy draining it may be, I want to push myself further to work for another week, primarily to clear my debts. (well, I insist the secondary is to get more exposure though it doesnt sound convincing anymore) At least now I get a feel of it, but in any case I treasure the experiences I gained at Farnell. For instance, I learn to hang up on perverts. This is common sense to many people. But I finally get the guts to hang up on this male pervert who wouldn't let me off after the first. (rmb the one I thot he'd have dropped after the call?) yep, that's him. Same call again today, asking me for my phone number and talking in a weird language.
Jenny would have left for her business trip to the KL branch tomorrow. And I am all alone. Amel wouldnt be there with me until around 1 or 2. Duh. It's ok, I will probably find something to entertain myself with.
School was disappointing. I was expecting at least one lecture to be not that bad. Finance people.. you guys rock! I don't know how you can survive so long on Earth with those games. Yes, and we are getting ready for the battle. SAPM... I missed the lab session this morning with SAPM. They taught Reuters and Factiva. How gross. So I'll have to join Amel's class this Fri morning and earn 2 hours less. I heard they have those super hi-tech computers with 2 screeens. What a waste it is not used for Youtube but for illegible stock prices and stuffs.
By the time Kodomo finished his boring chants, it was 3:50! I was gonna be so late for JPMCC. It was supposed to start at 3:30pm. Okay so we rushed there and expectedly, they only had the XL sizes for our volunteers' tshirts. Good for pyjamas.
It was a nice experience at the goody bag section. I got to know a guy from the same field of studies too. Except that he is far more serious than I do; he's studying for the sake for his dream career in the finance industry, and doing his Masters now. Impressive! I can never get that far with Finance. It is just not in my blood. So we chatted a bit on the finance stuffs, the Banks- UBS, Bear Stearns, JPMorgan... and the volunteer events. Through him I got to know that JP Morgan is from the Napoleon times. Gosh, I knew it is a big bank, but didnt know that it has existed for centuries! Then, the guy on my right. I don't know where he popped out from.. maybe the goody bags? haha. He's interesting and had a way of handling the chaos there, especially the angry runners. He took it as if they were his buddies and just patted on their shoulders. A very wise move, he managed to put a smile on their faces. They would stay to chat with him if there wasn't a crowd. So the crowd never ends. I was stuffing the cards into the bags like a robot and handling the runners at the same time. haa. Busy but really fun. Then there was the TP Junior doing LRM in Sentosa now. Good lucks to her.. for her feedback on uninteresting BOE lessons.
At the end of it, it was nice of Chai Hock to pop by our tent to see how we were doing. Thanks Chai Hock! He said his Start Zone duties were a mess and they had to give up before the race started. Phew! Lucky we were in goody bag. haa. Whatever it is, Chai Hock was still as naggy.. oops I meant tender loving caring as before. A fatherly figure. Really nice to see him and appreciate his help for everything.
Sweet Chilli sliced fish, BBQ chicken pcs, cauliflower and rice were in our Bento. It tasted great for the already famished us. So we had a parliament dinner, as what chai hock said. True, who ever had that?! Then we strolled around (really A round) clarke quay, past the pubs and restaurants, to the mrt station. Nice ambience. If it is a Friday I would have given in to the temptation of entering one of those and think of the $$ later. But we have early classes tomorrow.
